Monthly top 3: MAC Lipsticks

Hi Everyone, so this is my first full post in months now and considering its the first Sunday of the month I am doing a monthly top 3 on my favourite MAC lipsticks that I currently own. As well as discussing them I have also done swatches so that you can see the true colours especially as all of these lipsticks are matte.

  • Number 3: Stone
This lipstick is absolutely beautiful. I bought it a couple of months after seeing many people raving about it on youtube videos as well as blogs and it certainly lives up to expectations. It is the most perfect brown shade which I believe would suit many skin tones and goes with so many different makeup looks. Preferably, I wear this lipstick with gold/bronze eye makeup.

  • Number 2: Ariana Grande's Viva Glam
With being a huge fan of Ariana, there was no question about whether I was going to buy to this. Even though I am slightly biased, I can honestly say that it is the most amazing deep purple lipstick I own. It is not at all patchy and you get a flawless/even coverage all over your lips which I find is quite unusual with darker colours especially when they are matte. However, this does not disappoint in any way.

  • Number 1: Matte Royal
This is the most recent addition to the collection and it is my absolute favourite! I have been going through a phrase of wearing really bright and really out there lipsticks and this is certainly one of those. However, even though it is very noticeable, I think it is also very wearable and it surprisingly goes with many makeup looks. I normally wear this with heavy winged eyeliner and a heavy contour.

Well, that is everything for now. I really hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed writing it. I am so so glad to be back and if you have any post suggestions as always let me know on my social media @joliombre. I will speak to you all very soon.

I'm back!

Hello everyone! It feels so good to be typing that again! I'm SO SORRY for not posting anything for what seems like years but I am back and I am hoping to get back to posting more regularly again.

So much has happened over the past couple of months which has meant that I have had no time to myself or to you lovely people. I have recently sat my AS exams which were very stressful and involved a lot of revision and time as well as having lots of work from sixth form itself.
Since I have broken up from sixth form for summer, I have been on holiday to Sorrento in Italy (I will insert a picture below) which was absolutely amazing! I have also been to some University open days and filling in University applications which is so scary for me.
Because of all of this, I haven't really had time to experiment or buy any new makeup so if you have any recommendations for me, leave them in the comments or message me on my social media. When I say I haven't had time for buying makeup, its a bit of a lie. I have been picking little bits up here and there so if you would like me to write a post on the makeup that I have recently bought then let me know.

I think that is everything for now. If you have any blog post suggestions or anything in particular that you would like to see then let me know. I am so glad to be back and I will speak to you all very soon.

Life tips and tricks

Hello everyone, as I am coming into the later part of my teenage years I thought I would share with you some of the tips and tricks I have picked up along the way and what better way to start than with one of my favourite quotes from one of my favourite people, Walter E Disney.

(this is not my picture, all rights and responsibilities go to the original owner)

One of the things I have learnt over the years is that not everything can be perfect and not everything can turn out the way you had hoped but thats okay. I am a firm believer in that everything happens for a reason and so if something doesn't turn out the way you planned then it wasn't meant to be and that is also okay.

Another thing, especially for my younger readers, do not grow up or wish to grow up too fast. When you are older you will realise that your younger years are some of the best days/years of your life so embrace them and love them whilst you can.

This is one that I have had to learn to do myself but try and stay positive. No matter if your having a bad day or you feel as though the world is against you, you should always try and stay positive because there is so much beauty and so much to be grateful for in life that we can't afford to take them for granted.

I know that most of you will probably have had this one rammed down your throat but it is honestly one of, if not the most, important thing to do. Be yourself. Be the person you want to be and not the person people want you to be or expect you to be. Embrace yourself and love who you are because we all deserve to be happy and to be accepted.

Another thing that I firmly believe in is that we all deserve happiness therefore enjoy the life you are living. Appreciate everything you have and embrace it because you never know whats around the corner. Completely and fully embrace your life and enjoy it.

And finally, one that links back to the Walt Disney quote above and one of my personal life mottos, never give up on your dreams and aspirations because they can come true if you believe they will and work towards making them happen. You can make your life anything you want it to be if you have faith and work hard.

So, there you have it, some of the things I have learnt and like to live my life by. I know that this was a deeper and more emotional post than usual and I hope that this is okay and that you enjoyed it anyway. Also, let me know if you like these kind of posts so that I can do more as I love writing them. Love you all lots and I will speak to you soon.

Monthly top 3: Disney films

Hello Everyone, long time no see! I am so sorry that I haven't posted in a while but everything has been so busy lately. I have collected my GCSE results (which I am very happy with), sorted my sixth form place out and have done the NCS program. I know, what a busy month it has been! But I am back and everything will be going back to normal as of today.
Anyway, I have decided that I am going to start a new series of blog posts (how exciting?!) which I think you will enjoy and which I enjoy writing about. On the first Sunday of every month I am going to list my top 3 of a certain topic so it could be films, makeup items, accessories, shops absolutely anything! So, considering it is the first Sunday in September, I thought I would talk to you a little bit about my favourite Disney films. Getting this to my top 3 was extremely hard for me due to how big a fan of Disney I am and how much I love Disney films but after much thought and deliberation I managed to get it down to 3. So, before I change my mind, lets get into my current top 3 favourite Disney films.

(this picture does not belong to me, all rights and responsibilities go to the original owners)

  • Number 3: Hercules
I absolutely love Hercules and I think this is mainly down to the amazing soundtrack it has. I love the storyline, the songs, the characters just everything about it. In my opinion, it is definitely one of the best Disney films ever made and if you haven't seen it already you 100% need to.

  • Number 2: Sleeping Beauty
I only fairly recently got around to watching Sleeping Beauty and ever since I did I have been obsessed! I especially love the songs in Sleeping Beauty, I think they are so magical and so beautiful that you cant help but fall in love with them. Again, I love everything about Sleeping Beauty and Aurora is also one of my favourite Disney characters, even though she only has 18 lines in the whole film (I know, weird right?)

  • Number 1: Beauty and the Beast
I had absolutely no problem with choosing my number 1. Beauty and the Beast is possibly my favourite film of all time never mind my favourite Disney film. Like the others, I love everything about it but this film just stands out for me. Again, I absolutely love the songs, the storyline, the characters and I couldn't help falling in love with the Beast slightly. I just LOVE this film.

So there you have it, my current favourite Disney films. I say current because my favourites change so often that I can't keep up myself! I hope you enjoyed this slightly different post and I would love to know what your favourite Disney films are so comment below or tweet me what they are. I hope you all had an amazing week and I will speak to you soon.

Mini Paris Haul

Hello everyone! As a lot of you seem to be enjoying my previous post about Paris, which I am so glad about, I thought I would do another one! Of course when you are in the city of Paris you cannot miss out on the amazing shops, I certainly didn't! So today I am going to share with you some of the purchases I made whilst I was there. I didn't buy a huge amount but I am extremely happy with what I bought.

So the first thing I bought from a little stall by the Eiffel Tower was a keyring with the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral on it. When I was younger, me and my friend used to be serious keyring hoarders and used to collect hundreds of them so I have a special little place in my heart for keyrings and couldn't walk away from this one.

Another thing I bought from the same stall was an Eiffel Tower statue/ornament. I thought this would look really cute on my bookcase which is where it now sits proud of place.

I then bought a Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt from the Hard Rock Cafe which is one of my favourite places on Earth. I just love the atmosphere and everything about it! I went to Berlin with my school for a city break last October and I bought a Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt from there so I thought that it was only appropriate to buy one from Paris as well to add to the collection.

Whilst walking down the Champs Elysees, which is the huge shopping road, I noticed they had a huge Disney store and, as the Disney super fan I am, I had to go in and have a look. I actually wanted the Belle plush as Beauty and the Beast is my favourite Disney film and it is set in France so it seemed appropriate but they didn't have any. So instead I got this gorgeous French Minnie Mouse badge which I love!

I also had my first Sephora experience whilst wondering down the Champs Elysees and I can confirm that it was magical. Makeup is one of, if not my biggest passion so going into Sephora was an amazing experience for me so of course I had to buy something! I decided on one of Sephoras own lipsticks in the shade Rouge Shine which is gorgeous.

I also had a little look in MAC and I can't go in and not buy something so I bought one of their pigments in the shade Blue Brown. I have actually wanted this for ages so what better place to buy it than in Paris?

I am also currently filling a 15 slot MAC eyeshadow palette so I bought another insert whilst I was in MAC. I decided on this beautiful purple/plum colour called nocturnelle and I am completely in love with it. I also think this colour will go really nicely with the pigment above!

Anddddddd that is everything. I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post and as always make sure to follow me on twitter and instagram where I will be letting you guys know how I get on with these products. Also, I love talking to you guys so come and chat!
Just before I go, I realised the other day that I haven't been doing my weekly random favourite so to make up for it I am going to include 2 random favourites this week (I know, how exciting?!) These 2 things are both music related and the first one is One Directions new song Drag Me Down and the second is Disney's Hercules sound track, they are both amazing! Anyway, I will speak to you soon lovelies.

My trip to Paris

Bonjour everyone! I hope you are all having a lovely week. First of all, I want to apologise for the lack of posts over the past week and for my inactivity on my social media but I wanted to write this post to explain why you haven't seen much of me this week.
Last Friday I flew out to Paris for a city break and spent 5 nights there. I absolutely loved it! The city is beautiful and the architecture is amazing. So today, I thought I would share with you my visit through pictures. I am honestly so pleased with how these pictures turned out and I hope you like them too! Also, I hope this more interesting post makes up for not posting anything in a week. Anyway, here is a picture diary of my trip to Paris.

I hope you all enjoyed this blog post even though it was FILLED with pictures! Also, I did go shopping in Paris and I was thinking about writing a blog post about everything that I bought so let me know what you think and whether you would like to me write something like that. If you want to see even more pictures from my trip, I will be posting them on my twitter and instagram (joliombre on both) but other than that I will speak to you all soon, au revoir.
